Glory be to Jesus Christ!
Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Seminary was blessed to take part in SingCon 2026 in Brampton, a conference celebrating the rich musical and liturgical tradition of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.
During our trip, we had the opportunity to visit the Canadian Martyrs’ Shrine, spend time together at SingCon, and visit The Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies at the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto.
A particular highlight was the presentation by Bishop Erik Varden, O.C.S.O., Bishop-Prelate of Trondheim, Norway, entitled “He Who Sings Prays Twice; How?” His talk, followed by a Q&A, offered a beautiful reflection on the meaning and purpose of sacred music and singing in Christian prayer.
We were also grateful for the opportunity to meet Marianna Savaryn, a Byzantine iconographer, and learn more about the sacred art of iconography and its place in the life of the Church.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Bishop Bohdan J. Danylo, Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Parma, for his presence, service and support, and to Saint Elias the Prophet Church – Brampton and its pastor, Fr. Tom Hrywnа, for graciously hosting SingCon 2026 and welcoming us to Brampton.
We thank God for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful gathering, to learn, pray, sing, and deepen our appreciation for the beautiful liturgical tradition of our Church.
May God bless all who contributed to SingCon 2026 and continue to strengthen the sacred musical tradition of the Ukrainian Catholic Church!
